Launch of Liverpool's City Embassy(January 24, 2011)
Steve was pleased last week to attend the launch of Liverpool’s ‘city embassy’ in the capital.
The ‘Liverpool in London’ office - a joint venture between Liverpool Council and a range of public and private sector partners – is designed to showcase the city’s potential to UK and foreign investors, with a view to encouraging them to consider Liverpool as a viable option for both investment and location.
Those involved in the project are determined to build upon the success of the Liverpool pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Expo, which saw hundreds of thousands of visitors show an interest in the city as both a business and a leisure destination.
“This is a great innovation,” said Steve, “and typical of the ‘can do’ attitude of individuals and organisations in our city determined to see it go from strength to strength. Liverpool has masses to offer and it’s important to convey that message as proactively as possible.”
The embassy will be funded by private sponsorship. Although set to be open for three months initially, its partners are confident it will prove sufficiently successful to continue as a permanent feature.
