Inspiring Local Leadership

(February 16, 2011)

Steve was pleased to attend the launch of the NAVCA’s “Inspiring Local Leadership” report, which took place in the House of Commons on Monday 14 February.

The NAVCA – the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action – is the nationwide voice of local support and development organsations.  Its mission is to champion and strengthen voluntary and community action and the Association assists over 160,000 local charities and community groups in their work.

Steve explained why he was keen to promote the Assocation’s report.  “The voluntary sector plays an invaluable role in the lives of local communities,” he said,  “but it’s under enormous pressure – even threat - thanks to the Government’s draconian cuts agenda.  Now, more than ever, local community and voluntary organisations need recognition, encouragement, support and inspiration.”
