Steve Officially Opens Modernised Walton Church Post Office(April 29, 2013)
To celebrate the launch of the new open-plan branch Liverpool Walton MP, Steve Rotheram, ‘cut the ribbon’ at an opening ceremony at Walton Church Post Office, today Friday 26 April.
Steve Rotheram MP said: “I’m delighted to officially open the new-look WaltonChurch Post Office. Lorette is to be congratulated on her work to develop the branch which will make a real difference for local residents and small business customers. I wish her continued success with her business”
As part of Post Office plans to modernise the network and extend the opening hours for customers Walton Church Post Office will have four screened counter positions, the same wide range of products and services will still be available.
Post Office owner Lorette Cottier said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to modernise my Post Office and very pleased to be re-launching it today for the community. I know my customers will like the improvements and I’d like to thank Mr Rotheram for coming today and for my customers for being patient during the changes.”
She added: “We are now opening on Saturday afternoons which will be a great help to busy customers.”
Post Office Regional Manager for Richard Lynds, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in the area and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
He added: “This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6000 branches (about half the Post Office network) converting to new-style branches. This investment makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
Post Office customers will benefit from opening hours being extended by 5 hours a week as selected Post Office products and services will available during shop opening hours, which will be Monday to Friday: 08.30 to 17:30 and Saturday: 9:00-17:30. This includes longer opening on Saturday
The Post Office, now independent of Royal Mail, is the largest retail network in theUK, with over 11,500 branches. It is also one of the fastest growing financial services companies and is developing its online and telephony services.
