Steve on Bedroom Tax Policy

The Leader of the Labour Party Ed Miliband, has signled out Liverpool MP Steve Rotheram for special praise at a meeting of the National Policy Forum in Milton Keynes.

A year after the Walton MP began personally lobbying the Labour Leader to committing to scrap the bedroom tax, Mr Miliband told a packed conference hall of supporters that Steve can go back to Liverpool and make that pledge on behalf of the Labour Party.

Speaking after the NPF, Steve explained, "There are some policies that are so totemic, they define the values and direction of a political party. A policy that actively targets disabled people for punishment, is befitting of the nasty party, but it is not something my party should be supporting.

"Ed has proven that he is a Labour Leader that will listen to the views of his backbenchers and demonstrated that he will be a compassionate Prime Minister that doesn't aim to balance the books on the backs of those who have the least".
