Steve Rotheram MP thanks Parfetts for North Liverpool Foodbank match funding

(June 29, 2012)

North Liverpool Foodbank

Following his visit to the North Liverpool Foodbank earlier this year, Steve Rotheram MP helped secure further funding for the Walton based charity.

Steve and Luciana Berger (MP for Liverpool Wavertree) where profiled in a piece on the growth of Foodbanks in The Times newspaper, and donated their £1000 fee to Foodbanks in their respective constituencies. Local wholesaler Parfetts very kindly agreed to match fund the donation.

The North Liverpool Foodbank has provided emergency food for over 1000 clients and without it many families and individuals would go without even basic requirements. Volunteers tirelessly work to ensure that local people have the support they so desperately need.

Steve Rotheram MP said:

“This is a very generous donation by Parfetts and I would like to thank them wholeheartedly. Our Foodbank provides a much needed service to those in society who are struggling to get by in these times of austerity and coalition cuts.

"I urge businesses, wherever possible, to lend their support to The Foodbank as they are continually looking for support - be it financial or otherwise - in order to enable them to continue the outstanding work they do”.
